With the holidays right around the corner, it’s as good a time as any to celebrate those important people and parts in your life.
As business owners, we often have so much on our plates that we neglect to celebrate and honor those that matter most. But it’s never too late to make others feel special and appreciated!
Here are some of the things I think we can all celebrate – which I believe will help us grow personally and professionally.
Celebrate You
“So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” – Genesis 1:27
Before I get into ways to celebrate each of us, I want to first touch on something very important to me and my faith. God made us and that makes us special! Not only does this give us purpose, but it also means that we should be thankful for all that He has given us.
As an image bearer, we must take time for self-care reflection and worship. Whether it’s taking time to pray, meditate, exercise, or simply clear your head and reset, find what works best for you and consistently implement it into your daily life and workday.
Celebrate Your Customers
It goes without saying that SBS Accounting & Advisors wouldn’t exist without your amazing support and trust in us to handle your most sensitive information and find solutions that meet your needs and help you grow. We want to celebrate you for making our dreams possible, and we will continue our mission to make sure you’re happy, healthy and successful.
In the same light, we want to see you celebrate your customers, too! Let them know how much you care about them. You can send some kind of gift for the holidays or send them a note or handwritten letter in the mail. You’ll be amazed at how much others appreciate kind words and a thoughtful gesture.
Something else we preach at SBS is to check on your customers throughout the year. Your first thought may be checking on their business needs and helping your business grow. But what I mean here is checking on their personal lives, their families and their passions – really get to know them and show a genuine interest and care for them and their lives. It is the right thing to do, and it builds great customer relationships.
Celebrate Your Team
I cannot tell you how proud I am of my team. I feel we are truly one big family at SBS. My team has shown a dedication and passion to helping you and your businesses grow and succeed. More than that, they all have the same goal and mindset to genuinely care about your wellbeing and happiness, as well as the success of your business.
When celebrating your team, you can reward them with a raise or extra time off, or even throw a holiday party. But sometimes just thanking them for what they’ve accomplished in a one-on-one sit down or team meeting can go a long way.

Celebrate Your Family
I know, personally, that my family’s love and support inspires and motivates me every day. It drives me to be a better person and do all that I can to help you and your business, as well as my own.
It also makes me want to create a work/life balance that allows me to spend time with my loved ones. I want to make sure I set aside time to spend with my family, be present and connect with them on a deeper level. I don’t want to miss my son’s soccer game or my daughter’s piano recital. These are moments I truly cherish as a father and ones I can’t get back if I miss them.
For you, the events might be different, but the message is still the same – spending time with your loved ones is extremely important and meaningful.
Celebrate Your Business
It might seem silly to celebrate your business. After all, it’s a day-to-day grind and it is essential for making a living and supporting your family. But it’s still something to be thankful for!
As business owners, we took a risk to start our own businesses and we put in the time to grow them to what they are today. That is no small feat! Take some time to reflect on how far you’ve come, what you’ve overcome and what you’ve accomplished. Mistakes and failure don’t define us; they motivate us to do better and be better. Triumphs and successes uplift and motivate us, but they can’t take away from our desire to stay hungry, humble and driven to keep improving the lives of our customers and their businesses.
